About Mikey

Okay, for some strange reason, you'd like to know more about me. I'm quite flattered, actually, and happy to oblidge... Where would you like to start?

Who I Am
My name is Michael Vaughan, and I currently live in Indianapolis, Indiana. I work for the 10th largest airline in the country, America's Favorite Vacation Airline, American Trans Air (ATA). I am an aviation enthusiasts, and am co-owner of 5 airplanes in the #1 Aviation Flying Club in Indianapolis, Sky-Vu Flyers. I live on an airport, and like to play with computers and provide DJ Service for family and friends just for the fun of it. I really enjoy long quiet walks in the park and flying at night on a clear, calm, evening when the moon is full. I am a sucker for ice cream, and a total nut for cheesecake.

Boring Historical Stuff
I was born sometime around 6:10am on a Saturday, March 22, 1951 in Vallejo General Hospital in Vallejo, California. After a few days' recovery, (on my mother's part... it was a difficult birth, for both of us), I finally went home on Indiana Street with a Knot on my head. I always wondered why my early baby pictures showed me with a cap on all the time? I often wondered where my nickname, "Knot-Head" came from? I was one of those difficult babies, and didn't want to come out into the world. I guess the doctor was so impatient, he grabed a pair of forceps and pulled me out. He was so mad, he smacked me on the butt! Boy, did I cry. Thank God Medical Science has improved since then, my neck is still hurting over that deal. Anyways, my knot dissappeared and I didn't have to wear a ball cap any longer. After 1 year in Vallejo, we moved to Benton City, Washington. We lived in Washington for a couple of years, then ended up moving to Eureka, California when my Father got a job working for the State of California in Highway Construction/Engineering (Caltrans). I stayed in Eureka for 18 years until I joined the Air Force.

Education
Eureka was a very small town of about 30,000 people. I attended Worthington Elementary School for 1st grade, Sacred Heart School for grades 2 through 6th grades. YES, it was a Catholic school with Nuns and Uniforms. I attended Zane Jr High, and graduated from Eureka Senior High School. After graduation, I attended 2 years at College of the Redwoods where I studied Math, Physics, Meteorology, and Aviation.

While in the Air Force, I attended Aircraft Mechanic School, and then Flight Engineering Schools. While in Altus AFB, Oklahoma I finally finished my college degree in Aviation Science. Throughout the years, I also studied Computer Science and took several programming language courses. I have studied, Basic, Pascal, Acos, Machine Language, and several Web Develpment courses. It seems that I have spent my whole life in schools, not to mention the self-study courses I took on my own.

Personal Tidbits and Vital Statistics

Personal Philosophies

It does, however, simplify life.

The remainder of my life's philosophies can be summed up in a few very simple rules:

  1. Life isn't fair. It should be, but it isn't. Always deal fairly with others, but receive fair treatment from them as an honour, not an expectation.
  2. What you get out of getting even isn't worth the peace you lose in the process.
  3. Treat all others equally. Those who demand respect seldom deserve it, and those who are surprised at it are far more worthy.
  4. Work done for no money does the heart more good than paid work does for the purse.
  5. Ignorance, like any other weakness, can be cured through hard work. Stupidity, like any terminal disease, is a shame.

That should about do it for now.
